Horse armour was created in the same style as horseman armour and was made as part of a set. They have undergone the same gradual evolution from chain-mail armour through combination armour to plate armour. Massive plate armour, covering the horse from head to hoof, experienced its greatest boom from the mid-15th to the mid-16th century.
The muzzle consists of an iron strip structure with riveted fillings made of punched iron sheet. In the middle of the upper part there is a rosette surrounded by four spirals and two flames next to a pierced cartouche branded with the date 1562. The front disc is decorated with a rosette between late Gothic leafwork. The back part is made of openwork decorative grid.
