From July 2006 to January 2007, the 9th Contingent of the CAF KFOR operated in the territory of the province of Kosovo in southern Serbia. The main task of the unit was to monitor the security of the Kosovo-Serbian administrative border. Most of our soldiers were stationed at the Šajkovac base, which was located about 80 kilometres from the provincial capital Pristina. The core of the 448-strong contingent consisted of members of the 71st Mechanised Battalion Hranice from the 7th Mechanised Brigade.
