The handmade model with dimensions of 820 × 660 × 645 mm illustrates the loading of the siege catapult. The original medieval siege weapon was a catapult called a trebuchet. During the Middle Ages there were improvements in castle fortifications and therefore more and more were asked powerful weapons to overcome them. One of the most powerful and surprisingly most accurate siege weapons could throw massive projectiles and even destroy massive walls. The catapult worked on the principle of counterweight, which had already been known from antiquity. In the Czech lands, the catapults of this type were already documented in the 14 th century, and they were also used by the Hussites in the following century.
