Lieutenant General Ing. Tomáš Sedláček was a Czechoslovak soldier, a graduate of the Military Academy in Hranice, who after the establishment of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia went to join the resistance in France, specifically the 1st Czechoslovak Infantry Division. After the defeat of France he fled to Great Britain, where he joined the ranks of the Czechoslovak Mixed Brigade. In 1944, he was one the officers who moved to the Soviet Union, where he became a member of the 2nd Czechoslovak Paratroopers Brigade. In its ranks he took part in the Slovak National Uprising. After the liberation of Czechoslovakia he was promoted to major and graduated from the Military University in Prague. From 1949 he taught at the Military Training School in Prague. From 1951 he was imprisoned after a mock trial until the spring of 1960, after which he worked as a warehouse worker at the Prague Construction Renovation Company. After November 1989, he was rehabilitated and became actively involved in public life.
Lieutenant General Ing. Tomáš Sedláček died in Prague on 27 August 2012.
