In mid-January 1918, the 21st Czechoslovak Rifle Regiment was formed, and four months later the 22nd Czechoslovak Rifle Regiment was formed. After intensive training, sending some soldiers and officers to various courses, the two regiments were merged into the Czechoslovak Brigade in France on 22 June 1918. The brigade joined the ranks of the 53rd Infantry Division of the French Army and took part in battles fighting at the front. The establishment of the Czechoslovak Republic caught some of the Czechoslovak soldiers during the Battle of Terron. The soldiers of the Czechoslovak brigade in France were equipped with the modern M1915 uniform. The appearance of the Czechoslovak soldiers did not differ from the other soldiers of the French Army, except for the insignia and minor details.
