This pistol with two over-and-under barrels and two wheellocks with cocks placed against each other has a wooden stock richly inlaid with white bone. The decorative motifs include male and female figures, floral ornaments, dogs chasing foxes and hares, etc. On the left side of the pistol, we can see a hook used to fasten the weapon to a belt.
The upper barrel is stamped with a snake symbol between the letters WD, which was the master mark of the Nuremberg gunsmith Wolf Danner, referenced from 1537 to the first half of the 16th century. In 1541, he also supplied his weapons to King Gustav I of Sweden. The lock plate is marked with a spur, the master mark of Hans Stopler the Elder, referenced from 1547. He became burgess of Nuremberg in 1551 and died before 1570.
