A cavalry collar helmet decorated with etching and gilding. The skull of the helmet has a spherical shape with an almost imperceptible comb. The visor is in two parts with a front opening. The upper part of the visor is finished with a sun shield. In the middle part of the helmet, connected by a clamp to the buffe, are fourteen vertical vents. The buffe is connected to the rear part of the helmet with a pin. The lower part of the helmet is connected to the front and rear with two plates forming a protective collar.
The entire surface is decorated with etched military and musical motifs which are also gilded and form a decorative contrast with the black background.
The helmet is unmarked, but the style of decoration indicates it is probably the work of the Milanese armourer Pompeo della Cesa.
