Since 1897, Franz Ferdinand was the honorary owner of the 7th Galician Uhlan Regiment manned in Mosty Wielkie and since 1907 in Lower Austrian Stockerau. The colonel's uniform is made of light blue fine cloth with a red collar and edgings. The rank of its wearer is expressed by a wide bort lining the centre of the cap. The top part, with is characteristic square-shaped crown, is coated with green cloth belonging to the 7th Uhlan Regiment. The number seven is also on the front coat of arms. An adornment of black horsehair is inserted on the left side; a rosette with the ruler's initials is mounted on its top.
