An IED is a cheap and technically primitive improvised bomb containing destructive pyrotechnic or incendiary chemicals. Initially, the vast majority of these bombs were detonated using electric cables. In later years, these were set off remotely using mobile phones, remote door controls or children’s toys. This IED was confiscated from Taliban members by Czech Army soldiers deployed in Afghanistan in Wardak province. The charge is detonated remotely by a mobile phone.
