During the 1920s and 1930s, the Czechoslovak Arms Factory in Brno supplied its light machine guns to many countries around the world. The successful ZB 26, ZB 30 and ZB 30J types were associated with the name of the famous designer Václav Holek (1886–1954). At the sunset of independent Czechoslovakia, the machine guns from Brno were also delivered to the Afghan Royal Army, which in 1937 ordered a total of 2030 ZB 30 light machine guns in 7.92 mm Mauser calibre. The displayed gun was captured by Dutch troops in Uruzgan province, Afghanistan, during fighting with the Taliban
in 2011. Subsequently, it was handed over to the Czech unit, which provided security for the Dutch base.
