When Pandur II vehicles are camouflaged in the field, it is sometimes difficult for a squad to quickly identify their vehicle. To make it easier for the squad when boarding the Pandur II vehicles in Lithuania, these vehicles were marked with inconspicuous flags. Our flag was improvised from a food ration wrapper and duct tape. A symbol of a chalice is cut out in the middle. Other Pandur II vehicles were marked with similar flags, but with different symbols.
The 1st Task Force operated in the Baltics from July 2018 to January 2019 as part of the Alliance’s enhanced Forward Presence (eFP). Czech soldiers served in Lithuania together with representatives of seven other countries led by Germany. The Czech unit was based on a mechanised company with Pandur armoured vehicles reinforced by an engineer platoon, a logistics unit and a medical element. The main base of the battle group was located in the Lithuanian Army training area Rukla, about 70 km northwest of Vilnius.
