Members of the infamous security force of Nazi Germany, the Gestapo, used the SD (Sicherheitsdienst) uniform. The jacket (Dienstrock) was made of grey-green combed woollen yarn. From 1942, it was fitted with police epaulettes with green edging. The forearm of the left sleeve bears the Gespinst thread marking of SD and insignia on the upper arm; the same one that was also used on SS uniforms. There are loops above the left breast pocket for attaching ribbons of distinction, and similar loops are on the pocket itself. The left collar tab bears the rank insignia, while the right one is empty (indicating affiliation to the SD). The rank insignia is equivalent to Obersturmfürer SS (Lieutenant) and for Kriminalinspektor or Kriminalkommissar in the Gestapo (depending on length of service). The jacket was made in Josef Sobota’s tailor’s salon in Prague.
